Five East Coast boats are in the OGA60 Round Britain Cruise fleet. On Saturday 13 May skippers took advantage of the weekend ‘weather window’ and made good progress westwards. In Plymouth, they had an excellent welcome from the South West Gaffers. They’re looking forward to the Bristol Channel party next weekend at Neyland, Milford Haven.
The fleet spent the past couple of days in Newlyn or Falmouth, awaiting more favourable winds. Today, 17 May, they are hoping to round Lands End, on passage to the next party port . ‘Onward of Ito’ had to await new crew and departed Gosport early on Saturday morning, reaching Falmouth by sailing through the night to catch up with the rest of the fleet. ‘Cygnet of London’ left Dartmouth and enjoyed the sail to Plymouth where Sharon had to take her leave and return to work. Young Gaffer, Will Thomas, takes her place as crew. ‘Lahloo’ set off westwards on Sunday. Association President and East Coast OGA member, Mike Beckett reached Newlyn on Saturday.
