The East Coast Summer Cruise is a mixture of racing, cruising and socialising. This post includes a short video providing a snapshot of the week and the updated racing results [22 September, 2024]. There are reports elsewhere from participanting boats ‘Catsnip’ and ‘Minnie’ as well as an overview of the whole event.
The Sailing Committee have reviewed the Summer Cruise racing. In doing they have identified some errors and made some changes to the previously published results. The corrected results may be downloaded below:
The changes made are as follows:
- Daisybell and Reverie were tied for first position in the Cruise Series overall. An out-of-date method was adopted to resolve the tie placing Daisybell first. Applying the current default racing rule for tied boats means that Reverie is 1st Overall and Daisybell 2nd.
- The Seaways Bells race results have been corrected to properly apply Cytie’s declaration which stated that they motored for their passage. This was missed when initially processing the results. Clytie was not therefore 1st and the previous second, third and fourth boats move up one place.
- The ‘First Gaffer’ prize should have been awarded to Kestrel as the first ‘Class 2 Classic Gaffer’ yacht overall.
- East Breeze and William were included in the results sheets but in fact never declared entry into the Cruise racing and have been removed.
The affected boat owners have all been contacted and the affected prize awards will be corrected at the AGM on 2, November, 2024. We apologise for these changes and have learnt a lot for next year!
